To Whom It May Concern:

 

We are writing this letter to ask for your participation to bless the nursing homes with protective masks on N. Fair Oaks, the epicenter of COVID 19 in Pasadena, on behalf of the North Fair Oaks Empowerment Initiative (NFEI).  Our North Fair Oaks community is currently waging a battle with COVID-19.  Our community is the home to many skilled nursing care facilities.  These facilities provide care to many of Pasadena’s elderly and disabled individuals.  Six of these facilities have been in the News almost daily with more cases and deaths among Pasadena COVID counts. Even the National Guard has been called to support one with over 43 patients and 20 staff that have tested positive with COVID- 19.  

 

We approximate that there are over 600 patients requiring skilled nursing services in these six nursing homes with COVID cases on N. Fair Oaks and N. Raymond Ave. And approximately 300 staff members that are tasks with providing this care. The city is providing all the medical quality PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) needed, but as a gesture of our love for these North West Pasadena neighbors we wish to provide cloth washable masks for the staff to share with their family and loved ones. We are asking you as members of our extended community to join our crusade to provide these frontline staff and their family with fabric/ washable face masks for their personal use.  

 

By Monday, May 4th we hope to have 600 fabric/washable masks so we can distribute them to the nursing home staff as a gesture of our love and support during this tragic time of loss and grieving. Please send or drop off what you can. Your help will be greatly appreciated.
