NORTH GREENBUSH, N.Y. — On Monday, March 20, the North Greenbush Police Department arrested Douglas Deeb, 64, homeless, after a short investigation into a three-year sexual relationship he had with a child acquaintance. The victim was 11 years old when it began and had continued until last week when it was discovered. The unlawful conduct was reported to police on March 16 as soon as it was identified.

Deeb and his family hail from the Schenectady/ Amsterdam area where it is most likely other possible victims may be from.

He was located at a homeless shelter in Schenectady and taken into custody without incident.

He was charged with felony predatory sexual assault against a child, felony first-degree criminal sexual act, felony first-degree course of sexual conduct, felony first-degree sexual abuse and misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child.

He was arraigned at North Greenbush Town Court and remanded to Rensselaer County Jail without bail.

“This is obviously a tragic situation for both the victim and their family,” said North Greenbush Police Chief David M.  Keevern. “We are very glad we were able to bring this to a resolution quickly and provide the family with counseling services to begin the healing process. We sincerely thank the START  Children’s Center for their assistance in putting all of that together.” “We have no indication  of whether there are other victims but we are releasing his photo in the hopes that, if there are  any others, they will come forward and get the justice they deserve.”

If convicted, Deeb faces 25 years to life in prison. The New York State Police and START  Children’s Center assisted in this investigation.
