The following three churches meet in the same building owned by New Hope at 1787 North Fair Oaks

1)    New Hope Missionary Baptist Church purchased a site at 1787 North Fair Oaks at a US government auction. The property became available because of the savings and loan crisis of the 1980s and 1990s. The property was a dilapidated nursing home. Under the leadership of his first pastor, Frank Higgins II, the church underwent a long and arduous journey of demolition and construction until the project was finally completed. In addition to New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, pastored by Paul Jones and First Lady Grace Jones, this site also houses a Wholicare, an African congregation with Congolese pastor and Good Shepherd under the leadership of Pastor James Jackson. Dr. Gilbert Walton, an elder at New Hope Baptist Church, is a member of Making Housing and Community Happen’s N. Fair Oaks Empowerment Initiative. MHCH hosted several events at New Hope: A Celebration in 2018 upon receiving a traffic signal and cross walk in front of the church, and in 2020, a racial and housing justice vigil, which attracted over 60 religious and community leaders, including Assembly member Anthony Portantino and the last Pasadena City Council member John Kennedy.

2)    Good Shepherd of Pasadena.

Has been open since 2008 under the leadership of Pastor James Jackson and First Lady Mekeba Jackson. Since the opening of the church “Ministry” they have helped numerous of young people with multiple things and life resources. They have helped with mental health solutions, gangs, and young people being homeless, jobless etc.. We have partnered up with the Pasadena Fire Department also with the Pasadena Police Department in regard to taking some youth fishing in the past years. Our goal and mission is to help the youth of our next generation to be able to see and experience life in a fresh new way also to help them to see that their dreams and desires for themselves and their families are possible to achieve by staying focus and working hard. We believe that NOTHING IS TOO HARD FOR GOD!  Gracefully,  Pastor James Jackson and First Lady Mekeba Jackson

3)     Whole Life Care, Wholicare Church Wholicare Community Missionary Church relocated to New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in 2019. This French and English speaking pastoral team includes pastors Helen Mfwilwakanda, Anthonia Onye, and Charles Nwufo and is here to serve the community. Community Missionary Church started in 991, by Dr. Nlongi Mfwilwakanda and members from different churches who were convinced about Dr. Mfwilwakanda's holistic approach to the teaching of the Word of God.

The first meeting took place at Dr. Mfwilwakanda's residence.  The church then relocated to Pasadena Chamber of Commerce. In 2002, then to the First Congregational Church in Pasadena, close to Fuller Theological Seminary.  Ministers from many countries came to minister at Wholicare, and international students attended. Today Wholicare engages in missionary work in Pasadena, surrounding areas, and other nations, supporting missionary couples in France reaching out to French-speaking countries in Africa. In 2008, Wholicare was introduced to the Mennonite community and Joined PSMC (Pacific Southern Mennonite Conference).  As part of the Mennonite community, they believe in peace and justice for all and that God’s mission on the earth is to make disciples of all nations.  The congregation has members from Congo, Nigeria, Cameroon, Belize, and the US.  Services are held in both French and English.  Every 4th Sunday they distribute tracts and pray for banyone who needs it.  Quarterly they donate dry and canned foods.  With teenagers and members with small children, they have become involved in school activities.
